Here is a complete look at the work of these two subcommittees:
• 21st Century Competitiveness: Education and training beyond the high school level, except for aid to institutions; student financial aid programs; Workforce Investment Act; family literacy; teacher training; science and technology programs; welfare reform; child care grants.
• Select Education: Juvenile justice and delinquency; runaway and homeless youth; child abuse and domestic violence; adoption; services for the elderly; school-to-work services; libraries; arts and humanities; museum services; international education; aid to HBCUs, HSIs, tribal colleges and developing post-secondary institutions.
• Other subcommittees under the Education and Workforce Committee umbrella are education reform, work-force protections and employer-employee relations. Membership on the new select education committee has not yet been determined.
