The USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) is a prestigious four-tier competition for U.S. high-school biology students. The four gold medalists, selected by the academic jury of the USABO, were chosen from an original pool of 4,000 students. The recipients included Kay Aull, 15, Thomas Jefferson High School, Va.; Kelley Harris, 15, McClatchey High School, Calif.; Victor Li, 17, Monta Vista High School, Calif.; and Michael Xiang, 17, Bridgewater-Raritan High School, N.J.
“These kids are extraordinarily motivated and refreshingly diverse,” says Dr. William Stuart, director and head of the academic jury of the USABO.
