Going for $1 Billion

I’m very proud of Howard University (see “A Fundraising Blueprint,” May 1). As an alum who has pledged a contribution to the most recent campaign, I am looking forward to the $1 Billion Campaign for Howard. I think a $1 billion campaign is long overdue and will certainly be a success. Thank you, President Swygert and Mr. Parsons. Job well done.

Revving Up HBCU Motorsports

Congratulations to WSSU! (see “Revving Up an HBCU Motorsports Program, April 17) Having grown up in Winston-Salem, N.C., and walking distance from then Winston-Salem Teachers College, I am not surprised as races took place at nearby Bowman Gray Stadium every Saturday night. The likes of Lee Petty and Cale Yarborough were always in Winston-Salem. This gives students at WSSU another opportunity to be successful. I wish for them much success!

Correction

In the May 15 article “The Early Study Abroad Trend,” Sunny Jeong, director of the Korean Cultural Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is identified incorrectly in photos as Julie Misa, director of the university’s international students and scholars office. Diverse regrets the error.
