UI trustee Shah heeds panel’s call, offers resignation

The chairman of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees stepped down from the board on Monday, following calls for trustees to resign by the state commission investigating claims trustees and politicians pressured the university to admit some applicants. 

According to the News-Gazette, Niranjan Shah of Oak Brook, appointed to the board in 2003 and chosen as chairman earlier this year, sent a letter of resignation to Gov. Pat Quinn on Monday morning. Quinn accepted the resignation
