TUSCALOOSA Ala.—Stillman College’s board of trustees is forming a presidential search committee after the resignation of President Ernest McNealey, who has been on leave since early September.
Stillman spokeswoman Mary Sood told The Tuscaloosa News that said she had no further information about the nature of McNealey’s departure.
The school said in a statement that Peter Millet, provost and vice president for academic affairs, will continue to act as interim president. Millet was named interim leader on Sept. 6 after news that McNealey was on leave.
News of McNealey’s leave came abruptly a day after he welcomed students back during the fall convocation and predicted a positive year ahead for Stillman.
During his 16-year tenure, McNealey oversaw a capital campaign on campus, including the re-establishment of the football program.
