Dr. Chris Gilmer will become president of West Virginia University Potomac State College, effective immediately, MetroNews reported. Gilmer has been interim president of the school for the past nine months.
Gilmer will also continue as tenured professor in WVU’s Division of Liberal Arts. Previously, he was president of West Virginia University at Parkersburg; executive director of the Vicksburg, Mississippi, campus of Alcorn State University; and vice president for academic affairs at Adams State University.
“His inclusive approach and dedication to our core mission, helping students learn and succeed, make Chris the right fit at the right time as we continue to expand opportunities at WVU Potomac State College,” WVU President Dr. E. Gordon Gee said.
Gilmer, a first-generation college graduate, holds a doctorate in English from the University of Southern Mississippi.
