PETERSBURG, Va. — Police say four men are being charged in connection with a hazing that resulted in the drowning of a Virginia State University freshman.
Chesterfield County police said Tuesday three of the suspects have been arrested and a fourth is being sought. Police say they are with a group known as “Men of Honor,” which is not sanctioned by VSU.
The four are being charged with multiple counts of hazing.
Police said a body recovered Monday has been positively identified as that of 19-year-old Marvell Edmonson of Portsmouth, Va. The search continued Tuesday for a fellow VSU freshman, 19-year-old Jauwan M. Holmes.
The young men were swept away over the weekend by the swift waters of the Appomattox near Petersburg during what police called an initiation.
