STATE COLLEGE, Pa.— Penn State’s chapter of Pi Kappa Phi has been sanctioned for hazing violations.
The fraternity’s national leadership said Friday that the chapter’s interim suspension will remain in effect until the end of the month.
After that, Pi Kappa Phi says, the 107-member chapter will be allowed to return to limited activity so it can complete educational programs and strengthen operations.
Pi Kappa Phi originally suspended the chapter in December and was investigating violations of its risk management policy and standards of conduct.
Penn State Interfraternity Council President Rick Groves tells The Daily Collegian the university received an anonymous letter alleging members of the fraternity were hazed.
Groves says the council will conduct its own investigation after Pi Kappa Phi’s is completed.
