Headed by Dr. Patricia Telles-Irvin, Northwestern’s Division of Student Affairs endeavors to educate students, engage the campus community and enrich the Northwestern experience.
The division’s 267 full-time and 12 part-time student affairs professionals work through one of its many departments, including the Department of Campus Inclusion and Community, counseling and psychological services, and student auxiliary services.
Reflecting Northwestern’s commitment to research and improvement, its Division of Student Affairs is already underway
with a strategic plan to improve the direction of its work. This plan started in 2012, included data
collection, and was implemented in 2013. The plan includes building organizational health, furthering student
learning and advancing social justice.
When informed of her division’s selection, Telles-Irvin stated, “Northwestern is an exciting place to work.
There is a growing sense of community and direction in the division where staff feel their work is making
a difference.” Its willingness to take a critical self-assessment of the division, its environment and
work with students is in part what makes Northwestern University one of this year’s Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs at Research Institutions.
