Security Guard Injured in Austin Fraternity House Shooting

AUSTIN, Texas ― Officials are searching for three suspects after a security guard was injured in a shooting at a party at a fraternity house near the University of Texas at Austin.

The University of Texas at Austin Police Department says the shooting happened early Sunday at the Sigma Chi house, located off-campus. UT police spokeswoman Cindy Posey says a security guard was taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Posey says three suspects left the area.

Posey says university police are assisting the Austin Police Department on the case. A call and emails to Austin police from The Associated Press weren’t immediately returned Sunday morning.

UT said in a statement that they’ll offer counseling and support to students who were at the party or affected by the incident.
