VALERIE SMITH
VALERIE SMITH has been appointed president of Swarthmore College, effective July 1. She is currently dean of the college and a professor of literature and African-American studies at Princeton University. Smith earned a bachelorâs from Bates College, and a masterâs and a doctorate from the University of Virginia.

HOLLY ERNEST
HOLLY ERNEST was named as the holder of the Wyoming Excellence Chair in Disease Ecology at the University of Wyoming. She was a professor of wildlife genetics and population health at the University of California, Davis. Ernest earned a bachelorâs from Cornell University, and a masterâs and a doctorate from The Ohio State University. She also earned a doctorate from the University of California, Davis.
