Najuma Fletcher and Nicola Martial have travelled far since their days as aspiring young female athletes in Guyana, South America. Today both are looking forward to graduating â Fletcher with a B.S. degree in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and Martial with a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln And both look forward to the summer Olympic games in Atlanta.

âRez Ballâ Gains NCAA Certification Thanks to Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI)
If all goes according to plan, the term âRez Ballâ may soon become part of the mainstream lexicon. The Native American Basketball Invitational, founded in 2003, is helping to bring Indian Countryâs unique variation of basketball to the outside world. Long played on Indian reservations, rez ball has finally been certified by the NCAA.

The National Center for Lesbian Rights recently announced a settlement in the discrimination lawsuit filed by Jennifer Harris, a former Pennsylvania State University womenâs basketball player who sued the school over alleged mistreatment by former coach Rene Portland, who allegedly thought Harris was a lesbian.
