It’s one of the busiest weeks of the year in college athletics—with classes starting or about to start and training and practice for fall sports in full swing. Yet approximately 40 women of color who work in college athletics will convene at Rutgers University on Wednesday for a mini-forum designed to explore and overcome the barriers facing minority female administrators and coaches.

Texas A&M wants evaluation of athletic facility built by makers of collapsed Cowboys site
R. Bowen Loftin, interim president of Texas A&M University, has requested an independent safety analysis of the McFerrin Athletic Center. According to the Dallas Morning News, the facility was erected by the same company, Summit Structures LLC of Allentown, Pa., that built the Dallas Cowboys practice facility that collapsed in May, injuring 12. © Copyright […]

NCAA Women of Color Symposium Launches Recruitment and Retention Strategy Campaign
A recent NCAA report showed that ethnic minority women make up only 1.6 percent of athletic directors at institutions involved in intercollegiate athletics at the Division I, II and III levels – including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Drop HBCUs from the equation and the rate falls under 1 percent.
