Dr. Robin Means Coleman

Dr Robin Means ColemanTitle: Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity & Inclusion, Northwestern University

Before assuming her current position at Northwestern University on Feb. 1, 2021, Dr. Robin Means Coleman served at Texas A&M University as vice president and associate provost for diversity and a professor in the Department of Communication. At Northwestern, Dr. E. Patrick Johnson, dean of the School of Communication, called Coleman “a trailblazer in diversity, equity and inclusion for many years” when her appointment was announced in November 2020. Before her appointment at Texas A&M, Coleman was on faculty at the University of Michigan and served as associate dean of social sciences in the Rackham Graduate School as well as chair of the Department of Communication Studies. She previously was on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and New York University. Coleman earned a bachelor’s degree from Chatham College, a master’s degree in communications from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in mass communications from Bowling Green State University. She has a certificate in diversity and inclusion from Cornell University.
