Despite the economic recession, one Chicago university continues to thrive. According to PR Web, Roosevelt University, a higher-education institution with a mission focused on social justice, partnered with an enrollment management consulting firm to continue enrollment growth at the school. With the support of the president, Dr. Charles Middleton, and the Board of Trustees, the vice president of enrollment managed the implementation of a new recruitment model last year that resulted in a 70 percent increase in new freshmen, a 38 percent increase in new transfer students and the largest number of full-time undergraduate students in the history of the university. This growth was achieved while academic quality improved, ethnic diversity grew and geographic reach expanded.
