ROCHESTER, Minn. — The embattled president of Rochester Community and Technical College has resigned.
Leslie R. McClellon issued a statement Thursday saying the current environment at the college is not healthy for students and it’s not good for the community.
McClellon had been under fire from faculty, staff and students who had been calling for her resignation, accusing her of extravagant spending, and mismanagement, and blaming her for low morale at the school.
She says her last day will be Jan. 8, after which she’ll take a new position with the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system in St. Paul. She says she’ll become a senior system director in academic and student affairs
MnSCU President Steven Rosenstone says he’ll meet with campus stakeholders to determine the next steps and appoint an interim president.
