Saint Augustine’s University professor Erin L. Berry-McCrea was recently awarded the 2018 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Early Career Educator of Color Leadership Award.
The award supports early career teachers of color who are working to build accomplished teaching careers in literacy education, according to NCTE. Berry-McCrea will be recognized during the 2019 annual conference in Baltimore.
Currently, Berry-McCrea is an assistant professor of media and communication at Saint Augustine’s University. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in the Language, Literacy and Culture program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Berry-McCrea’s accolades also include the 2017 Dresher Center for the Humanities Residential Fellowship and the 2015 Jodi Crandall Fellowship for her pre-dissertation research. Her work has been featured in PHILLIS: The Journal of Research on African American Women and Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism.
