Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden has received an award for its certificate in Spanish for its health professions program.
The program, developed by the school, is the recipient of the 2018 American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Innovations in Professional Nursing Education Award.
The program was developed with funds from a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s International and Foreign Language Education office.
The program’s purpose is to promote health equity in Latino and immigrant populations by strengthening the Spanish language skills of the health workers who treat them.
The award will be presented at the AACN Academic Nursing Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., from Oct. 27-30.
