Howard University’s fourth annual LGBTQ Renaissance Reception was held Wednesday at the university’s Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library Atrium and Lobby, according to information from Howard’s website.
The event’s purpose was to demonstrate the university’s commitment to inclusion and diversity while honoring students interested in advancing LGBTQ advocacy.
The event also recognized the three recipients of the Lavender Fund Scholarship, which was awarded to students dedicated to advancing the LGBTQ community.
Scholarship donors are encouraged to honor the landmark 2015 Supreme Court ruling that affirmed same-sex marriage by giving in increments using the 2-0-1-5 numerical sequence.
To date, the fund has raised $15,000.
