ACT will provide a free breakfast on Saturday to students taking its assessment at any of its five testing centers in Virginia, according to officials at the Iowa-based organization.
Breakfast will be provided at testing facilities in Eastville, Harrisonburg, Martinsville, Springfield and Tazewell.
The meals are part of a new initiative by ACT and Virginia’s Child and Adult Care Food Program. The initiative’s aim is to positively impact ACT test scores and reduce food insecurities.
The initiative was created in response to research that shows students who miss breakfast don’t perform as well on tests. Research also shows ACT composite score gains are greater in students who report having breakfast before each testing session.
