Kevin Guskiewicz Named UNC Chancellor

Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz was recently named chancellor and chief executive officer of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).

He has been the interim chancellor since February and also previously served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at UNC. Guskiewicz earned his bachelor’s degree from West Chester University, a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate from the University of Virginia.

Guskiewicz has been a member of UNC’s faculty since 1995 and his research has focused on the long-term effects of concussions. He is also the co-director of the Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center.

“I am humbled and honored to be named the 12th chancellor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,” said Guskiewicz in a statement. “Carolina has been my home for almost 25 years and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve every member of our community.”
