Bellarmine University, a private Catholic liberal arts school in Louisville, Kentucky, will no longer require applicants to submit SAT and ACT scores, WDRB.com reported. The new test optional policy will kick in for students starting in fall 2021.
The university will still consider students’ high school grades, extracurricular activities, counselor recommendations, work and leadership experience. Plus, each student will need to interview with a Bellarmine admissions counselor.
Student athletes, however, are still required to submit scores to the NCAA Eligibility Center, and applicants for specific scholarships will need to share their test results as well.
Bellarmine University joins a growing number of schools – about 1,080 – that have gotten rid of mandatory standardized test scores, hoping to improve college access.
