University of Memphis Instructor Dies From COVID-19-Related Complications, Reports Say

Dr. Lenard Wells, a criminal justice instructor at the University of Memphis, died last week while traveling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reportedly of complications arising from COVID-19, Fox13Memphis reported, citing Fox6Now.

A university spokesman said Wells died Saturday.

Wells had worked at the University of Memphis for about seven years. Before that, he spent 30 years with the Milwaukee Police Department, reported Fox13Memphis.

“He was well known for his compassion and dedication to the impartation of knowledge and providing guidance to his students regarding their future careers and life,” wrote KB Turner, chairman of the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice, in a message to staff and students, reported Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
