President of Pennsylvania College Resigns, Citing Personal Reasons and COVID-19

Citing the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and a desire to focus on personal and family life, the president of Elizabethtown College, a small Central Pennsylvania school, has resigned.

Cecilia M. McCormickCecilia M. McCormickDr. Cecilia M. McCormick, who took up the role two and a half years ago — or eight months prior to when COVID-19 first began closing campuses — was the first female president of the 123-year-old college.

"I am proud of the work we have done to keep our college community safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said McCormick. “However, like so many others among us, the pandemic has also reinforced for me the importance of prioritizing what’s most important in our lives. As we start a new year, and with the college on strong footing, I believe this is the right decision for me and my family.”
