Currently the president of Robert Morris University, Dr. Chris Howard will move into a new role at Arizona State University (ASU) as executive vice president and chief operating officer of ASU Enterprise.
As part of the ASU Enterprise leadership team, Howard will work alongside ASU's president, Dr. Michael Crow, and other ASU Enterprise officials to "coordinate enterprise-wide initiatives and advancement, oversee ASU Enterprise affiliates, advance new enterprise relationships and opportunities, and integrate ASU Enterprise planning and strategy."
Howard, formerly the president of Hampden-Sydney College, has a diverse and distinguished background, with experience in higher education, the military and college athletics. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy where he earned a B.S. in political science. While in the military, he was a helicopter pilot and intelligence officer and he earned a Bronze Star for service in Afghanistan. Howard is also a former Rhodes Scholar, having earning a Ph.D. in politics at the University of Oxford and an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School. And, as a starting running back for the Air Force Academy's football team, he earned the Campbell Trophy, the nation’s highest academic award for a senior college football player.
“Chris will be a transformational addition to our team,” Crow said. “Adding someone of Chris’ caliber immediately strengthens our already strong core of university leaders and positions us well for continued growth and strategic vision.”
