Professional Appointments

Dr. Donald J. Reaves has been appointed chancellor of Winston-Salem State University (N.C.). He was most recently vice president for administration and chief financial officer at the University of Chicago. Reaves holds a bachelor’s from Cleveland State University and a master’s and doctorate from Kent State University.

Rod Broadway has been named head football coach at Grambling State University (La.). He had most recently been head coach at North Carolina Central University. Broadway played football collegiately and earned a bachelor’s at the University of North Carolina.

Jim Chen has been appointed dean of the University of Louisville’s Louis D. Brandeis School of Law (Ky.). He was previously associate dean for faculty at the University of Minnesota Law School. Chen holds a bachelor’s and master’s from Emory University and a law degree from Harvard University.

Dr. Michael T. Harris has been appointed associate dean for undergraduate education at Purdue University (Ind.). He had been a professor of chemical engineering at the university. Harris holds a bachelor’s from Mississippi State University and a master’s and doctorate from the University
of Tennessee.

Ralph Hoskins has been named executive director of the regional performing arts center at California State University-Northridge. He was most recently arts director at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Hoskins earned a bachelor’s from Bowling Green State University.

Dr. Barbara O. Korner has been named dean of the College of Arts and Architecture at Pennsylvania State University. She was most recently a professor of theater at the University of Florida. Korner earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Ohio
University.

Dr. R. Sanders Williams has been named senior vice chancellor for academic affairs at Duke University (N.C.). He was most recently dean of Duke’s school of medicine. Williams holds a bachelor’s from Princeton University and a medical degree from Duke.

Dr. Al Valbuena has been appointed vice president for the Office of Information Technology at Bowie State University (Md.). Valbuena holds a bachelor’s from the University of Kansas and a master’s and doctorate from Pennsylvania State University.

L. Marshall Washington has been named vice president for student services at Kellogg Community College (Mich.). He had previously been dean for student services. Washington holds a bachelor’s from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master’s from Winona State University.
