Tony Amaker Hires Blue Devils to Help Transform Harvard Basketball Team

CAMBRIDGE Mass.

Tommy Amaker is bringing two Blue Devils with him to help turn around Harvard’s basketball program, naming former Duke guard Kenny Blakeney as assistant coach on Monday.

Amaker, hired in April as Harvard’s head coach, also named Duke graduate Kirsten Green as Harvard’s first director of basketball operations. Green spent the past six seasons in the same role at Michigan under Amaker.

Blakeney played on the 1991-92 Duke team that won the NCAA title.

Amaker also named Will Wade as an assistant coach on Monday. Wade most recently was director of men’s basketball operations at Clemson.

Amaker was a four-year starter at Duke in the 1980s.
