Joe Hillock, the women’s coach at Southern Utah for 10 years, has been hired as director of operations for the UCLA men’s basketball program.
“Joe brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program, and I’m very excited to have him join our staff,” UCLA coach Ben Howland said in a statement issued Friday.
The 55-year-old Hillock replaces Chris Carlson, who was hired as men’s coach at UC San Diego last month. Hillock is Southern Utahs all-time winningest womens coach with 128 victories. He coached the Thunderbirds from 1996-2006.
“I couldnt be more excited,” he said. “To be working with the staff that coach Howland has assembled and to be working for what I consider to be the best coach in college basketball is an amazing opportunity for me.”
