Following Florida State University (FSU)’s loss against University of Florida, 14-41, on Saturday, a Facebook user posted a racist image targeted at head football coach Willie Taggart.
The photograph shows a man hanging from a noose with coach Taggart’s face photoshopped over the victim’s head with the caption, “#JustDoIt” and “#FireTaggart” according to WCTV News.
University president John Thrasher released the following statement from FSU’s Twitter in response to the post:
“A recent racist social media post aimed at our football coach is ignorant and despicable. I speak for the entire FSU community in expressing our disgust and extreme disappointment, and I am glad the state attorney is investigating. Coach Taggart has our full support and as true Seminoles know, he is a respected member of the FSU family.”
