Georgia University Using Grant to Support Migrant Education

DAHLONEGA, Ga. ― The University of North Georgia is planning to use millions of dollars in grant funding to help expand educational opportunities for the children of migrant and seasonal workers.

Officials say the U.S. Department of Education has given UNG a more than $2 million grant to be used over a five-year period to launch a College Assistant Migrant Program. The move is part of a federal initiative to boost college attendance and graduation rates of migrant and seasonal workers’ children.

Officials say the grant will support up to 40 students annually at the university’s Gainesville campus.
