TOMAS GOMEZ-ARIAS has been appointed chief diversity officer of Saint Mary’s College of California. He is a professor, chair of the marketing department and director of the M.S. in Business Analytics Program at Saint Mary’s. He earned a bachelor’s from the University of Leon in Spain, an MBA from Columbia University and a doctorate from the University of Leon.

Virginia State University will name Bethune-Cookman Provost and Academic Officer Makola M. Abdullah as its next president Friday. Carolina Panthers Owner Gives Johnson C. Smith $250K
Jerry Richardson, owner of the Carolina Panthers, has donated $250,000 to a Johnson C. Smith University scholarship fund. The money will go to the President’s Gap scholarship fund, which covers the financial gap between a student’s financial aid package and the cost of tuition at the historically Black institution.
