Albion College and Western Michigan University’s medical school are partnering to guarantee admitted Albion undergrads a spot at WMU’s Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, Detroit Free Press reported.
The program begins with enrolling students this fall.
“Since the pandemic began, we’ve seen significant increases in students looking to enter the medical field and serve their communities,” Albion President Mathew Johnson said. “Putting that sense of public purpose into action is what an Albion education is all about. The college will be a key driver in the diversification of the medical student population at WMed, creating and sustaining impactful opportunities for all students. These future physicians should be just as diverse as the communities they work with.”
The partnership will also create a preferred relationship between the two schools letting qualified Albion students participate in the WMedStart early decision program.
