Howard University President Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick has been named co-chair of a subcommittee that’s part of the newly created ReOpen DC initiative, the university said in a statement.
Dr. Frederick will co-chair the Equity, Disparity Reduction, Vulnerable Populations Subcommittee which is tasked with advising on recovery efforts in communities hardest hit by the coronavirus.
“As a university president, a surgeon and a father, I hope to bring a range of experiences and perspectives to this role,” said Dr. Frederick in the statement. “I look forward to working with the committee and members of the DC community as we seek to expand opportunity to the most vulnerable in our community.”
Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser this week announced members of the ReOpen DC Advisory Group, which will create plans to open the capital. The task force comprises 11 committees tackling recovery plans for services like education, retail, transportation and recreation, and social services.
