Manchester University will offer four years of free tuition to fall 2020 freshman students from Indiana who meet certain financial criteria, in an effort to help those facing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the institution said in a statement.
David McFaddenTo be eligible for the tuition waiver, Indiana students must be from families that earn $65,000 a year or less, be eligible to receive a Pell grant and must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, by the Indiana deadline. Recipients of the waiver must also agree to live on campus for all four years, pay student fees and pay room and board costs.
Until now, more than 400 students who have been admitted to the university for fall 2020 qualify for the tuition waiver. The waiver is part of the university’s COVID-19 financial assistance efforts, called the Spartan 2020 Response.
“The Manchester community has a long history of investing financially in our students,” said university president David McFadden. “We would not have the Spartan 2020 Response if it were not for our loyal alumni, generous donors and board of trustees. We have a tradition here of opening doors for each other.”
