Huffington Post Latino Voices reported that hundreds of young, undocumented immigrants gathered in San Francisco last Saturday to celebrate those given the opportunity to graduate by the California DREAM Act and to protest anti-immigration policies, particularly the “papers please” provision in Arizona’s anti-immigration law.
Keynote speaker and civil rights activist Angela Davis said: “The DREAM Act was proposed more than 10 years ago … we really shouldn’t be struggling for this anymore,” according to Huffington Post Latino Voices.
Mohammad Abdollahi, DreamActivist.org founder and National Immigrant Youth Alliance member, told the Huffington Post Latino Voices that we “need to stand up for our human rights … Congress needs to act now before other states worsen their attacks on our communities nationwide.”
