St. Edwards University Names First Hispanic President

Dr. Montserrat “Montse” Fuentes will be the next president of St. Edwards University, effective July 1, 2021. She had stepped down as University of Iowa’s provost in July after a year, WHO Radio and The Gazette reported.

She will remain a special assistant at the University of Iowa, earning vice-president-level pay under a deal she signed with Iowa’s Board of Regents, The Gazette reported.

Fuentes  will be the first Hispanic president of the Hispanic-serving institution.
