Shaw University has extended the contract of Acting President Dr. Gaddis J. Faulcon for one year, the university announced Thursday. Faulcon, who was appointed acting president on January 1, 2014 after the retirement of Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy as president, will gain the title of interim president.
“Dr. Faulcon has continued to lead Shaw in the right direction and we are supportive of his efforts,” Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Joseph N. Bell said in a statement released by the university. “We look forward to his strong and innovative leadership in the coming year as we continue to forge new business and community partnerships to enhance the Shaw experience for our students.”
Faulcon also has been afforded the opportunity to apply for the permanent presidency as Shaw conducts its national search.
