2 Wheelock College Professors Accuse School of Anti-semitism

BOSTON ― Two Jewish professors at Wheelock College have filed federal workplace discrimination complaints against the school alleging they were subject to anti-Semitic discrimination.

The Boston Globe reports Gail Dines and Eric Silverman say the school retaliated against them after they co-wrote a letter about a perceived lack of Jewish perspective on campus.

The complaint says Wheelock President Jackie Jenkins-Scott and other administrators retaliated by accusing Dines and Silverman of using racist language in their classes. Both professors teach courses on how racist language is used against many groups.

Silverman also alleges he was blocked from applying for several administrative positions.

Wheelock officials say the claims are “without merit.”

The complaint was filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Dines and Silverman are seeking unspecified damages and attorneys’ fees.
