In an effort to boost the number of engineers in the greater Philadelphia area, Synergis Technology has donated $25,000 worth of software to Bucks County Community College. The gift of AutoCAD(R) MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) software comes in the form of a 25-seat classroom lab designed by Synergis’ Engineering Design Solutions Division. The gift was funded by a grant from GlaxoSmithKline and Autodesk, Inc. through the Autodesk Invest in Education Program.
“The addition of AutoCAD instruction allows Bucks County Community College to offer more programs to support manufacturing and construction companies in Bucks County and the Delaware Valley,” says Emily Evans, BCCC’s director of workforce development. “Offering AutoCAD courses will help ensure that workers in the state’s high priority occupations such as advanced manufacturing, building and construction have access to training that will help them to compete in our global economy.”
Autodesk is a comprehensive design software suite which has a host of civil engineering and building design applications. The Autodesk Invest in Education program allows corporations that buy certain Autodesk software or services to grant a classroom lab of Autodesk software or services to any educational institution they choose.
“It was our pleasure to facilitate GlaxoSmithKline’s generous donation back to the community, through the Autodesk Invest in Education granting program,” says Jennifer Zavacky, marketing director of Synergis’ manufacturing solutions group. “The award helps Bucks County Community College take one step forward toward building the region’s next generation of engineers and designers.”
Based in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Synergis Engineering Design Solutions provides Autodesk software, training, professional services to a host of government and manufacturing clients.
