Dr. Paulette R. Dillard, who has been serving as interim president of Shaw University since July 2017, has been appointed as the institution’s 18th president by the University Board of Trustees.

Prior to working as the interim president, Dillard was the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Shaw University.

“Upon her appointment as interim president, we determined Dr. Dillard to be the ideal selection to lead this institution,” said Joseph N. Bell, Jr, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “We believe her performance to date has demonstrated that she is committed to the transformative education process and more than qualified to lead Shaw University into this next era of excellence.”

Dillard received a bachelor’s degree from Barber-Scotia College, a master’s of business administration from Belmont University, a master’s of science in Biology from Tennessee State University and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from Clark Atlanta University.
