Morial is well known for his work as former mayor of New Orleans, a tenure that included developing a broad multiracial coalition that led New Orleans’ 1990’s renaissance.

Morial was 26 years old when he became one of the youngest lawyers to argue and win a major case before the Louisiana Supreme Court. He won the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award for legal service to the poor and disadvantaged.

GSU President Rick Gallot said it is “an honor to host a transformational leader” like Morial. “His experience in advocacy, service and entrepreneurship offers an important perspective to our graduates as they prepare to change the world.”
