U.S. Representative Elijah E. Cummings’ alma mater Howard University will receive items from his Capitol Hill office including photographs, letters and other documents, according to the Associated Press.
Prior to his death last month, Cummings was involved in the impeachment inquiry of President Donald J. Trump. Therefore, before the items are donated, they must be reviewed to ensure that no sensitive information will be shared.
However, his widow and policy consultant Maya Rockeymoore Cummings said that the items could be donated without a problem once there is a security clearance and authorization, the Associated Press reported.
Rockeymoore Cummings will be among several candidates running for her husband’s Maryland 7th Congressional District seat in the election next year.
