Auburn University junior Ada Ruth Huntley has been elected Student Government Association (SGA) president, according to The Auburn Plainsman. Huntley is the first African-American woman elected to the post.

According to the The Plainsman, Huntley’s campaign “focused on health, wellness and diversity.” Huntley said she wants to create an inclusion certification program for on-campus organizations that would encourage people to engage with the issues of diversity in a practical manner.
The Plainsman also noted that Huntley has experienced anxiety and depression and said she plans to establish a task force focused on mental health and advocate for a military-trained counselor for student veterans.
