Prescott College has appointed Dr. Barbara Morris to serve as its 18th president.
Morris, who is currently associate vice provost and associate vice chancellor for academic affairs at the State University of New York (SUNY), is scheduled to take the reigns at Prescott on July 15.
Prescott University Board Chair Lynne Nemethe praised “Dr. Morris’s record of accomplishment in advancement, student success, and retention as part of her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Prescott College.”
“I am committed to the college’s mission to encourage students to become community minded change agents striving to create a more just, humane, and sustainable world,” said Morris, who started her career in higher education at the University of the Redlands, ending 15 years of service there as the dean of the college of arts and sciences. She then worked at Fort Lewis College, helming fundraising for academic programs, scholarships, and faculty and student engagement.
Morris will replace Dr. John Flicker, who announced his retirement in 2020 after six years of service.
