Richard Buery, Jr. has been appointed CEO of the New York poverty-fighting organization Robin Hood. He is replacing author Wes Moore, who announced that he is running for governor of Maryland.
Buery served as deputy mayor for strategic policy initiatives for the City of New York. He founded the Mayor’s Office of Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises and the city’s Department of Veterans Services.
He holds a law degree from Yale University.
He currently is CEO of Robin Hood’s community partner Achievement First.
