Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has signed an executive order calling for an independent review of Kentucky State University’s finances after the historically Black university’s president, Dr. M. Christopher Brown II, resigned earlier this week, reports the Courier Journal.

Andy BeshearThe Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) will provide “guidance and oversight” during the review by assessing KSU’s financial status and recommending changes for its next biennial budget as well as consulting with the KSU board on its administrative and leadership structure.
Beshear’s order requires that the university provide any records deemed necessary to CPE. According to the Courier, the university has a $71 million budget, $27 million of which is from Kentucky’s General Fund.
