HBCUs Address Food Insecurity through Community Collaboration
The University of the District of Columbia’s Center for Urban Agriculture and Gardening Education (CUAGE) has taken a collaborative approach to addressing food deserts in the surrounding metropolitan area. Through community programs and the launch of several urban food hubs, the university has empowered thousands of residents with the knowledge and gardening techniques to improve their food and water security.

She is a professor of geology and director of the Environmental Program at the United States Military Academy. Study Finds Students’ Homelessness, Hunger Community College Issues
A study from the Wisconsin HOPE lab surveyed students at 10 community colleges across the country and found that 13 percent of respondents were homeless and 20 percent reported “very low” food security.
