Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., president of Cal Poly Humboldt
“At my institution, the ideas and plans for a polytechnic transformation were ready well before the funding,” said Jackson. “The infusion of funds was incredibly fortunate, and we are forever grateful.”
Twelve new programs will be created over the coming year in agriculture, engineering, healthcare, and technology, with plans for a further nine years of growth.
California has continued to increase its budgetary allowance for higher education, at a time when many states have decreased funding. Jackson said that this support allows for quick and “significant” changes to public higher education.
“Investments in higher education—large and small—pay off,” said Jackson. “At Cal Poly Humboldt, the return on the investment will impact generations to come.”
