LSU Receives $245 Million for Healthcare

LSU officials and representatives from Our Lady of the Lake and LCMC Health sign the $245 million agreement.LSU officials and representatives from Our Lady of the Lake and LCMC Health sign the $245 million agreement.Louisiana State University (LSU) has received a landmark $245 million from LCMC Health and Our Lady of the Lake, nonprofit health systems in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, to transform healthcare in Louisiana over the next decade.

The funding will be split as follows: $160 million will go to supporting academics and $85 million to supporting athletics.

LSU President Dr. William F. Tate IV said that he plans to use the funds to develop the first NCI-Designated Cancer Center in the region, to "catalyze STEM transformation in Louisiana, strengthen the talent pipeline for the future of healthcare, alleviate financial barriers to quality healthcare for our students with financial need and provide elite healthcare to our student athletes.”
