Lincoln College in Illinois has announced it will permanently close on May 13.
While fall 2019 saw a record-breaking enrollment, the pandemic’s impact was too much for the campus to overcome. Despite efforts by the university to strengthen its financial position with fundraising, consolidating employees, and selling its assets, no plan for long-term viability could be created.
“Lincoln College has been serving students from across the globe for more than 157 years. The loss of history, careers, and a community of students and alumni is immense,” said Lincoln College President Dr. David Gerlach. “Though we are experiencing undeniable grief and sadness, we find comfort in knowing Lincoln College has served generations of alumni who have undoubtedly impacted our world.”
